Description
The International Centre for Local and Regional Development (ICLRD) is a unique North-South-US partnership that brings together leading experts in spatial planning, housing and local and regional development from universities and research centres. The Centre's goals are to promote research into best practices in spatial planning and economic development and to develop capacity building programmes for public officials, civic leaders, non-governmental organisations and other practitioners.
The strength of the ICLRD concept is the diversity of the partners who bring unique and complementary strengths to the centre, the partners include: the National Institute of Regional and Spatial Analysis at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth; the School of the Built Environment at the University of Ulster; the Institute for International Urban Development in Cambridge, Massachusetts; the Centre for Cross Border Studies in Armagh; the Athlone Institute of Technology; and the Clonmacnoise Foundation in Athlone.
